Move Call

Yep, this week I got to be a Zone Leader! But for like 3 days. Hahaha. After Elder Sims picked up his new missionary, I moved out to Daya to work with Elder Sng. And since his companion became the new assistant, it was only us. So I had to do Zone Leader stuff. I had to call so many people for numbers and movecall and everything else. IT was crazy. But it was fun! Elder Sng is really experienced and he taught me a lot!

Speaking of movecall, I just got moved to an area called Nantun! It is about 40 minutes away from Tanzi so it is still part of Taizhong city. It is a super nice area and there is a Costco so it looks like we will be eating hot dogs a lot!! :) And my new companion is Elder Hsu!! He is Taiwanese so that should make this transfer very fun! I get a transfer full of language study so hopefully my chinese improves a lot! He is a really cool guy and he works hard so that rocks! It was really hard to leave Tanzi and Elder Sims. Elder Sims is such an awesome guy and we were really able to become super good friends. And I just love all the members in Tanzi.

This week was Chinese New Year's! We got fed just about every meal. The members here are so awesome. But the problem was, no one would set up to meet with us. such a bummer. But this week is Power Week! That means we just go all out on working! We leave the door at 9 in the morning and just go nuts. It's going to be so sick and I am so excited for it!

Oh man I am trying to think of cool stuff that happened this week but it was literally just eating food and trying to get people to meet with us....

Sorry this was short, but next week will be a lot better!

I love you all so much!

This is the Chen family!! They are probably the greatest people ever and they are super super funny!!!

This is Max! He is a member in Tanzi and he is super awesome!! He served a mission in California so his English is super good!!

This is what happens when I have to get my bag to the church and we don't have a car. Haha that's me riding my bike while rolling my suitcase. roll tide
This guy is a member in Daya and turns out HE IS A ROCKIES FAN!!!! Wooo! He loves the Rockies so much! We talked baseball forever and he is super cool! This just proves that there are more Rockies fans in the world besides me :)

Questions

Best part of the week: I think meeting with the Kiwi (refer to big email) or the earthquake

Worst part of the week: Freezing my face off while biking. I literally lost feeling in my jaw for a little bit haah

My bike is named Megatron!!!! He is a beast!!!

Best food was a restaurant called JSP. I love that place. They have super good food! Or the stake we had! that was good

Pday is different every week. We either go into Taizhong, play basketball, bowling, pool. Just about anything

One thing I learned this week is that Taiwan is cold and not a tropical paradise like I was lead to believe.

Our apartment is super ghetto. The senior couple said they don't know why we are living there and she said if it were up to her, missionaries would not be living in it. hehe. I don't really know how to describe it but I can send some pic next week!!!

I am excited for New Years but I have heard the work goes really slow through that time because everyone is partying. But we get fed a lot so that is good!!

New Years and Earthquakes!

Yeah so this week we had a 6.4 earthquake so that was neat! We woke up, I asked Elder Sims if he felt that (making sure I wasn't crazy), he didn't respond even though he thought he did (because he dreamed he responded), I sat there for like 30 minutes trying to decide what happened, and then went back to bed. Sleep is precious on a mission haha. But yeah that was a pretty fun experience! Except I didn't really like rocking back and forth in my bed and not being able to control my body. Crazy stuff.
But yeah! It's Chinese New Years!!!!! Woo!!! The only bad part is, everyone that we contact and call always says to talk to them after new years. So that is really frustrating. But this is a good time to get referrals from the members because every day this week we are getting fed at member's houses. To put things in perspective for you all, imagine Thanksgiving dinner but for every meal for 7 days. We are gonna get fat!

On Saturday we went and helped a family move to their new house. And it is a good thing me and Elder Sims were there because they had some SUPER heavy stuff and it took all of us to lift them into their ghetto truck haha. But it felt good to do service for the people here. The people in Taiwan are not really willing to let us serve them. They always think they can do it themselves.

Other than that, we weren't able to meet with any of our investigators this week because they either had work, military, or they weren't in town. But we did find some potentials so that is super cool!!!
On Tuesday we were out looking for one of our potentials that lives in a park (yes he is a hobo, but he literally is a golden potential) and we got a call from President. I instantly told Elder Sims, "You're training!" I'm so smart. Elder Sims is gonna be training!!!! So that means he goes to get his greenie on Friday and I get kicked out to go live with the Zone Leaders until Monday and then on Monday I move! I still don't know where I am going to but I will find out this weekend. It's kind of sad to move though. Tanzi is such and awesome place and they people in this ward are amazing.

On Monday we went out to Fongnjia to go to the night market there. It's on of the biggest in Taiwan and it is crazy! It is so huge! There are shops and restaurants as far as the eye can see! there are so many people too!! And there was this super cool nerd store (I'll send pics)

Tuesday we had a Zone Training meeting and it was so amazing. The Zone Leaders played a video that had clips from a talk by Elder Holland called Missionary Work and the Atonement. It's amazing. the Spirit was so strong. At one point he said that when we are rejected and spit upon and cast out "you are standing shoulder to shoulder with the best life this world has ever known"
It's amazing.

I love our Savior so much. I love being able to slip his name on my pocket, right over my heart, every day. There is no better way to spend your time than serving him.

I hope you all have an amazing Chinese New Years and go eat a ton of Panda Express and fried rice! I love you all. You are all the best!

Enter February

Sorry everyone I don't have much time this week to write (I know you are all just so bummed out, not) but this week was pretty good.

It rained just about everyday. And in Taiwan, there are no little sissy Utah rains. It POURS all the time. It's crazy. And the people here do not like rain in the slightest so they won't go outside if they don't have to. We had tons of lessons set up this week but none of them showed up because it was raining! So annoying. We would call people to see if they will come to church and then they say "It's raining. Do you still have church when it rains?" Silly Asians.

We had a miracle investigator show up to church yesterday so that was super awesome! We are still getting the work rolling along and chinese new years is next week so that is going to be crazy!!

Well I love you all so much!! Keep it real!

For all you clash of clans fans out there, I found a level 6 (if I remember right) wizard in a painting.
This was in the sequal of holes that no one saw. It's the dude that actually goes back and takes Madam Zeroni up the hill to drink out of the stream haha
