Not too much to say

Well there is not too much to say from this week. I think the highlight of the week was going on exchanges with Elder Henderson this week. It was one of the most fun exchange that I have ever been on! We were able to find some cool people that seem to have interest!

One cool miracle came from contacting. Elder Henderson and I decided to do quidditch contacting (我的英文很差)which means we have a certain point system for outcomes of the contact. But we are looking for the Golden Snitch! The snitch is a person with the last name that we picked to be the snitch. It has to be a name that is not super rare but not super common. You all probably do not understand. That's ok. Just think that it's cool. We picked the last name of to be the snitch. Well our contacting time was about over and we were heading to dinner and as we biked past a 7 Elder Henderson waved to a lady sitting at the window and she waved back. He said, "Hey let's go talk to her!" So we did. Turns our her name is 朱! When she told us we had a big grin on our face haha. What was cool is that even though she didn't have any interest, we asked her for a referral and she said her daughter might have interest and we should call her another time to see! We are still trying to get in touch but it was awesome!

We had zone conference this week and President Teh really wants us to work harder on finding with the spirit. Our mission uses little hand out things we call tracts that we give to people and such. He felt that too many missionaries were relying on the tracts to find and teach so he decided we are no longer using them at all! So awesome! I love the changes President Teh has made! We have already felt a huge difference in the way we have  been finding (not that we relied on the tracts before) but we are really trying to be guided by the spirit. I love it!

Lastly, I want to share a scripture that I read in personal study. It is in 1 Nephi
10:17

I, Nephi, having heard all the words of my father, concerning the things which he saw in a vision, and also the things which he spake by the power of the Holy Ghost, which power he received by faith on the Son of God

I really loved this scripture because us as missionaries definitely want to teach by the power of the Holy Ghost so we need faith on the Son of God. But even if we aren't a missionary we can still speak with the power of the Holy Ghost. I can't even mention how many times I have been touched by a member or friends testimony because they were speaking by the power of the spirit. It is so important to strengthening ours and others testimonies!

Well that's about it!

Exchanges with Elder Henderson!!!

Randy's mud flap broke off this week. He is getting old and tired, but he's still hanging in there :)

Random quote in the bathroom in a 7-11. I know that none of these people can read it ,but it's super deep haha

Yep

哈囉 this week was full of a lot of finding and a lot more finding. That's pretty much what we did this week haha.

Even though we didn't get a lot of lessons this week, we did get one new investigator and he is so cool! He is so golden and prepared! The only problem is he is in the military right now so he doesn't get to come home very often. But he is so excited to read the Book of Mormon and pray! He was super bummed that he couldn't come to church yesterday! I am really excited about him and I hope he can come home more often!

This week we have really been focusing on following the spirit. There were many occasions that we just felt we should talk to someone and they turned out interested. Even though lots of them live in other areas, it's still good to help them and it builds my faith knowing that we are constantly being guided by the spirit. One cool miracle was we got a referal and went to visit the address, but the address was lacking information so we couldn't find them. But we did what our leaders have taught us and we tracted that whole area. We were walking down a small alley and the last house we knocked on was the house of one of the sisters' investigators that went missing. We talked to his parents who came to church a few weeks ago and they are super concerned and what not. But it was such a miracle to find them. They really need help and are looking for guidance! So cool!

Even though we haven't been finding many investigators, we are still finding success. According to Preach My Gospel pg 10 we are being successful. We are working our hardest, being obedient, loving the people (even though they can be annoying):), and feeling the spirit. No reason to keep our heads down for that. Still being ambitious for Christ so that is the 重點!

life is well! This email was super lame. Sorry mom

Elder 何 is my elder

Welp, what a week here in the great area of 后豐!Started off with a wonderful Monday in which we went to a restaraunt called 石頭. It's all you can eat and it's just the best ever. Elder Jones came up from his area and that was super fun to be with him again!!

Ben's friend told us this week he has no interest in the gospel so that was super sad. But Ben is still trying to get his family to come to church! Such a stud. He just got the Aaronic Priesthood yesterday and he is so great. He was super excited to become a priest! The ward had to organize the young men's quorum because he is the only one in the ward!

We met with Derek before English class and we taught him the Plan of Salvation. He still hasn't come to church but I think something is turning inside him. At one point in the lesson we asked if he had any questions. He turned to me and asked, "Why did you want to know the truth and how did you do it?" I was surprised at the question because that was super deep! We testified to him and the spirit was very strong. Just gotta get him to church!

Met a new investigator named Brother Zhong. He is super cool. Elder Jones and I met him on our last night together and practically taught the first lesson to him. When we met with him this week he told us a lot about his life and his beliefs. He really wants to have a good relationship with his daughter becasue it is only them at home. He takes her to church every week but he doesn't really like his church because of stuff that has happened and he told us that he feels it was established by men, not God. I just felt the spirit very strong in the whole lesson and I feel he is very prepared to be baptized. We gave him a Book of Mormon and he is very willing to read it. Sadly, he doesn't live in our area. But that is ok, I really want him to get baptized and seethe blessings from it. We are meeting with him one more time and then will refer him to the other Elders. He is so cool. f

So this week Elder Anderson had some problems with his toe. Whoops. I got an ingrown toenail last Monday and wow, those suckers hurt! It just got progressively worse and me, thinking I am all tough, tried to work through it. Finally we called the mission nurse and she set up a doctor's appointment for today, but I still had 3 days to endure. Literally the most pain I have ever been in. Finally I asked the Elders in my district if they could give me a blessing. I was super nervous because I didnt' want to have to get surgury on it and I just could not endure the pain much more. One of my best friends in the mission, Elder Henderson, gave me the blessing. After a few days and many prayers, my toe doesn't even hurt. The doctor said it looks good and that I just need to maintain it. I really am so grateful for Elders Henderson, Spach and Potts for being worthy of their priesthood. "Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will work wonders among you."

One more miracle. We were out contacting and we biked by a 7 and I felt like I needed to go talk to someone. I look at the people sitting down... all girls. great. no way jose. We kept biking, but we just felt like we needed to go back. We didn't know who to talk to so we said a prayer and just sat down at an empty table. One girl was at a table to our left and another at our right. We tried the one on the right first. She left. Looked over at the girl on the left. She is literally 14 and I just hate talking to that age of girls. But we felt we needed to talk to her. We started teaching her and she was really interested! She gave us her number so the sisters could call her. As we were about to leave she said that she met missionaries not too long ago and that it's super cool she met them again. Afterwards, I was really grateful that we followed the spirit and talked to her!

Lastly, yesterday in my studies I read a talk that Elder Potts gave me by Elder Gong called 'Becoming Perfect in Christ'. There is a quote in there that hit me really hard. He said, "We are His greatest handiwork, even though we are still a work in progress." I loved it because I have been a little stressed about the time that is left and all that I expect/desire to become in this time. I guess I have been feeling that I need to be perfect when I get home. But after reading this I realized that that is not true. Sure I can become a different person, but I will always be a work in progress. It helped me relax a little and be calm. None of us can be perfect, but we can always be progressing.

Well I love you all!

Amen

Well this week was another week here in Fengyuan! Transfers are always hard to start and end but I always get over it. Elder Potts is super fun and is super talented with music. He can play just about anything! He is super fun!

This week we pretty much were out contacting all day every day so there isn't much to report on that. But one funny story, we contacting this lady and I said hello! Then she said AMEN! *sidestory* people in Taiwan think that amen is a religion and they just don't understand what it really means. *regular story* and I just kept talking to her as she was walking and she said she was Christian and she just kept saying Amen. So I finally asked her if she knows what that means and she replied with a big old AMEN and then walked away. Classic

But the highlight from this week came from meeting with Ben! So he told us that him mom wanted to come and meet with us because she is curious about the church and stuff. But then something came up and she couldn't come so he brought is other buddy and we taught him! We taught the first lesson and he accepted a baptismal goal for April! We aren't quite sure about his sincere interest but we will definitely keep working with him. Ben is a stud!

We weren't able to meet with Derek this week because he has been super super busy so that was a bummer. But we are meeting with him on Wednesday so hopefully that goes well!

But yeah. We are really working hard to find people with interest in the gospel. We know they are out there and we will find them!!

Last few things, one, I had a dream that I was playing baseball and I hit a home run and my team came out to celebrate and not only were they there, but the whole Quorum of the Twelve came out to home plate to celebrate too. It was so sick. When I stepped on home, President Nelson gave me a high five and said, "Nice!" Best dream ever

Last. I was reading in Helaman this week and I found a scripture that I just love. It is about Nephi when he is praying on his tower and the people gather around him. I love what he says,  16 Yea, how could you have given way to the enticing of him who is seeking to hurl away your souls down to everlasting misery and endless wo?
17 O repent ye, repent ye! Why will ye die? Turn ye, turn ye unto the Lord your God. Why has he forsaken you?
I imagine that is the same feeling that Christ has when we give into temptation. As I read it, it really hit me that Satan literally hates us and will do all he can to bring us down. Never give into temptation! Overcome the natural man within us and do as Nephi says, TURN YE UNTO THE LORD YOUR GOD. When we are as the prophets of old, we will be ambitious for Christ. We will overcome our weaknesses and "become a saint through the Atonement of Christ the Lord".

Welp Ben got baptized this week!! I'm super proud of him! He came up clutch and stopped smoking! I have been very impressed with how he has been able to use the gospel to overcome these trials and temptations. He is a beast!!

I am very low on time. Sorry.

We had transfers today and that was very sad. very sad. Elder Jones moved down to Yuanlin and my new companion is Elder Potts from Cache Valley! I am excited to be with Elder Potts but I am very sad that Elder Jones had to go. We thought we would have another transfer together but God's plan is otherwise. He is a real pal. I'll miss him!

Other than that, we did a lot of contacting this week and met a lot of cool people but yet again they don't live here in Fengyuan. Kinda frustrating. But I am glad to meet these people and refer them to the other areas. It really has taught me a lot of things.

We met with Derek this week and he accepted a baptismal goal for the end of March! Super cool! He is so awesome. i hope he can work hard to hit this goal!

Other than that, life is good. We are looking to see a lot of miracles this transfer and have a lot of fun! We will most definitely be very ambitious for Christ in getting this area rolling again!
