Elder Miles Anderson: Good week

Well this was a week that was full of a lot of great things and some interesting things. All of our lessons this week were either super good, or super bad haha. They were bad because the members that we invited with us went a little renegade... or they didn't know anything at all...

We met with our RC Hubert this week and the ward wants his home teacher to reteach him all of the lessons. So we met with him a little early to help him get ready to teach. Wow. During the lesson we talked about how we can get to live with God again. Keep the commandments. Great. what commandments? the 10 commandments. I said, 'ok cool. what else? What about the Word of Wisdom?' haha then the member said, "That's not a commandment is it?" Me and Elder Osborne just looked at each other and even our RC was kind of chuckling... late we asked them which of the three kingdoms that they want to go to. The member said, "I don't know, they all seem pretty good.." *face palm* Yikes. We might have to reteach the member the lessons haha. But he was trying his best and he is a great guy. It was pretty funny though.

The other incident was we met with these 3 girls that are all really good friends and we invited two other members to teach with us. We hardly got to say anything because the members just talked the whole time. They literally taught a point from every single lesson. The Restoration, the war in heaven, repentance, fasting and fast offerings, and temple work. It was every where. Super funny though.

But we had some other lessons that were really powerful. We met with a new investigator named Simon and we taught him the first lesson and watched the 20 minute Restoration movie. The Spirit was super strong and we just bore testimonies about the Restoration. We invited him to be baptized but he didn't accept. He said that if he gets and answer from reading and praying then he will definitely get baptized. It was super cool though because he said he feels like Joseph Smith because he just wants to know what church is true. Soooo awesome!!!!

There was some sweet miracle contacts too. We just got out of lunch and were pulling up to a light that only had like 5 seconds left until it turned green. Lately I have had a goal to talk with everyone, all the time because I want to show the Lord that I need His help. I pull up to the car and just said hello, the light turned green, and the guy just pulled over without me even asking! I talked to him for a second and he willingly gave me his number and as I was about to leave he yelled after me asking how he can call us! I wrote down our number and gave it to him. He doesn't live in our area but that's ok! just as long as he gets baptized!

Speaking of baptisms, I saw Elder Kujianpaa the other day (I went on exchanges with him when he was an assistant) and I was asking about all the people that we contacted on that exchange and if he knows how they are doing. Turns out that one of the guys we talked to just got baptized not too long ago! Super cool! When we met him we didn't even contact him originally. We talked to this guy who was working and he had no interest so we asked if anyone he knew would be interested. He said, "This guy is a Christian, talk to him!" So we did and he got baptized! Just goes to show that miracles happen when you talk with everyone.

Also last night we met with a family that we tracted into a few weeks ago and they are so cool. They love us missionaries and I really think they can get baptized. They had lots of questions about why we are different than the others churches. So cool!!!

Lastly, on Saturday we had a memorial service in Zhanghua for Elder Hampton. If you haven't heard anything about Elder Hampton, he was a missionary in our mission that got into a bike accident and didn't make it. It was such a hard blow for our mission. And I have really had a hard time dealing with it. I never knew him but it was hard to accept the fact that God would let this happen to one of His servants. Especially one who had only been on island for 6 weeks. This service was exactly what I needed. All of the speakers were amazing. I know that Elder Hampton is in the Spirit World preaching to the Taiwanese people. He is doing the work on the other side for us. A fourth of the missionaries in our mission were there and they asked us to sing our mission song during the service. Our mission song is the Armies of Helaman song with a few word adjustments and part of it in chinese. It was amazing. The spirit was so strong. We sing the first verse and chorus in english and then the second verse in Chinese. Every time we switch to chinese, there is always a slight pause, and everyone just sings a little louder. I don't know why but it always happens and I always feel the spirit very strong. I know that Elder Hampton was right there next to us singing too. Families are forever. Never forget that.
