Miracles and Happy Lantern Festival

Well this week went pretty well for Elder Jones and I! We were able to see a few super cool miracles this week and we had tons of fun doing the work!

It all started on Monday. Since we have more time on Monday's, we went down to Zhanghua to play basketball with a bunch of other Elders. It was tons of fun! We enjoyed it and wrecked haha. Lots of people took pictures of us. Classic Asians. So we planned on leaving at 4 so we could get back in time and shower so we could get back to proselyting at 6. As we were about to leave we took a picture with everyone and as I went to grab my camera afterwards it was gone! We were looking in all of our bags and stuff and there was literally no where else that it could be! We spent a good portion of time looking for it and it was looking like we would be late getting back. Then one of the Elders pulls it out of his pocket and was laughing because he thought he was funny. Yes, that made our district very very angry to say the least. So we left the college as quick as possible and we were a good distance away from the train station so we needed a taxi. I turn to Elder Jones as we were walking and said, "How are we going to get a taxi?" Then one random and lonely taxi pulls around the corner!! So we got in and it took us to the train station. We were really nervous about the train times and as we walked to get the tickets we found out that there was a 自強車 (faster train) that was leaving in a few minutes! We  grabbed our tickets and ran to the train and then when we were biking home we made every single green light and we got back to proselyting at 6! It was such a cool miracle that really taught me that when we desire to be obedient, God will bless us and make things happen. So cool!

Ben is doing really well! We met with him on Saturday and we went over the baptismal interview questions to make sure everything was all good. I really liked one of his responses when we asked him a question. We asked the first questions which is (I don't have them in English so I am translating from my planner.... sorry) , "Do you believe God is our Eternal Father? Do you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Savior and Redeemer of the world?" He said yes! Then I asked him why. He pulled out his Book of Mormon and pointed to it! It really touched me! I hope you all remember that the promise in the Book of Mormon is true. When we read, ponder its message and pray about it we will know that this church is true, Joseph Smith is a prophet of God, and that Jesus is the Christ.
Ben is a stud. He came to church yesterday and the members were really nice to him and showed lots of love to him. And he brought another friend!! So he is looking good for his baptismal date! He is being very ambitious for Christ in inviting his friends to come and learn about the gospel with him. Such a great example!!

The last miracle came from exchanges! Exchanges always bring miracles, that is a fact. And since both of our areas have been struggling in finding investigators, it was cool because we both set up potential investigators the day before! As in, on Thursday we called them and set up a time to meet with them on Friday. I went on exchanges with Elder Hatch who is from Arkansas. He is so fun!! We met this new investigator and he was super cool. We taught him a simple lesson about the Godhead and the Book of Mormon. As we were winding down to finish the lesson I felt that I should invite him to be baptized. We had talked about it earlier when we gave him a chapel tour and we showed him all the baptismal pictures and I felt it was a little too quick to invite. Then I felt it again. And so did Elder Hatch. And Elder Hatch was talking at the time and he started to invite him to be baptized. And he accepted! It was so awesome and the spirit was very strong. Soo cool!!

We had interviews with President Teh this week and that is always great. I felt the spirit very strong the whole time and I am so grateful for him and his wisdom. We also had a Zone training meeting but there wasn't much training that happened... kind of a waste of time..

But all is well here! Life is good!!

I love you all so much!

Benny and the Jets

Well this was another good week for Elder Jones and I! We had a lot of fun and saw a few miracles! It all started on Monday when we went to play basketball as a district for Preparation Day. We went to the park to play and it was a blast. I love schooling all these people here. People were filming us playing and had a good time watching. Then a college team from Douliu showed up and wanted to play us. Uh oh. Don't worry we still beat them. They were great sports and we had a blast! Like my old man always says: "Work hard, pray hard, play hard." We have been doing a lot of that this week.

Ben is doing really good! We finished teaching him the commandments this week and even though he has a few problems he was willing to give them up and obey the commandments fully. We did have to change his date to the 25th though because he wasn't able to come to church this week and he still needs to come twice before he can get baptized, but all is well. I have been super impressed with his desire to follow Jesus Christ and change his life. Even though he would be the only young man in our ward, I firmly believe he will help his friends get baptized. It will be like that mormon message where the one guy invites all his friends to church  and they all get baptized and keep inviting their buddies and then in a short manner of time the greatest church ball team in the world was formed. You'll have to watch the video to understand. Then our ward will have Ben and the jets all at church.

But even though this week we didn't find any investigators we have really felt the spirit with us all throughout the day. We have been meeting tons of cool people at 7's and Family Marts but the problem is with the New Year, none of them live in our area! So it has been hard to find places to contact because the place where all the people are at, the people aren't from our area. But that's ok. We are still working super hard and having fun doing so.

We have been focusing this on teaching people about a new start and repentance. We have been thinking that we are here to 'Teach Repentance and Baptize Converts' but when we talk to people we might not even mention repentance or that process. We discussed it and studied how the prophets of old taught and they just taught repentance and baptized a lot of converts. So we have been testifying of how we can be clean from all our guilt and sorrows and disgrace. I have really felt a difference in the work as we have done this. I love it!

Last, yesterday we were out tracting and we were looking for our miracle and we were on one side of the road and as we walked to the next house we looked across the street and saw this family watching tv and their daughter was dancing right by the window and we laughed because it was just funny. Eventually as we made the rounds we had one more house to knock before we headed home. Yep, it was dancer girl's house. She was still dancing haha. But we knocked on the door and her mom came to the door and turns our she is a former investigator and talked with us for a while. She was willing to set up and meet another time so that was such a sweet miracle! Fourth floor, last door.

Well that is it for this week! New years is over! Yay!
Love you all!!

We got to a members house a little early for dinner, so we decided to take some pictures and do calls on the big rocks on the side of the road. GQ

Elevator selfie. aw yeah

Us being ambitious by eating a lot of food and then contacting every single person while we were on the verge of throwing up!
